History of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
Originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has been a steadfast advocate for the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Over the years, the VFW has grown into one of the nation’s leading veterans’ organizations, continuing to represent the voices of returning service members, those currently deployed, and their families.
Commitment to Veterans and Their Families
The VFW is deeply committed to supporting those who sacrifice so much for this country. This includes veterans who have fought in conflicts abroad, active duty service members in the U.S. Armed Forces, and the families who stand by them. The organization works tirelessly to provide advocacy, assistance, and services to ensure veterans receive the benefits and recognition they deserve.
Community Engagement and Advocacy
In addition to its advocacy, the VFW plays a crucial role in community engagement, organizing events, and fostering camaraderie among veterans, active duty members, and their families. The VFW provides a platform for veterans to connect, share experiences, and offer support to one another, while also serving as a powerful voice in Washington, D.C. on issues that directly affect veterans’ lives, including healthcare, benefits, and military policy.
Programs and Services for Veterans
Through various programs like education, healthcare services, employment support, and emergency relief, the VFW continues its mission to improve the lives of veterans and their families. Whether advocating for benefit reform, providing financial aid to families in need, or offering mental health support, the VFW remains dedicated to the well-being of those who have selflessly served our nation.
The VFW Community
At its core, the VFW is more than just an organization—it is a community built on the honor, sacrifice, and commitment of our nation’s veterans and service members.
