VFW Post 10385 Programs
At VFW Post 10385, we honor the sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and foster the next generation of leaders. We proudly offer a variety of VFW programs that support our veterans, engage our community, and ensure the legacies of our heroes remain unforgettable. Here are some of the key programs we participate in:
Military Order of the Cootie (MOC)
The Military Order of the Cootie (MOC) is the official honor organization of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). This lively and unique group works tirelessly to provide additional support to veterans, their families, and their communities. Through its deep traditions, meaningful rituals, and strong fellowship, the MOC fulfills its mission to assist veterans in need.
Our local chapter, Pup Tent 13, plays a vital role in supporting hospitalized veterans, raising funds for veterans’ programs, and fostering camaraderie within our community. We are active in organizing events and programs that directly benefit veterans, ensuring they receive the care, recognition, and support they deserve. The members of Pup Tent 13 proudly contribute their time and energy to carry out the MOC’s mission, strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual respect among all veterans.

POW/MIA Recognition
We never forget the brave men and women who were Prisoners of War (POWs) or are still Missing in Action (MIA). VFW Post 10385 honors their sacrifices and supports efforts to bring them home. We host annual ceremonies and fly the POW/MIA flag. We also actively share the stories of these heroes. Our post offers support and community for those affected by the POW/MIA issue.
Buddy Poppy Program
The Buddy Poppy program is one of the most iconic and meaningful initiatives of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Every year, volunteers at VFW Post 10385 distribute Buddy Poppies to raise funds for veterans in need. The proceeds directly support veterans’ services, such as rehabilitation, emergency assistance, and financial relief. The Buddy Poppy is not just a symbol—it’s a way for all of us to make a tangible impact in the lives of those who served.
Voice of Democracy
The Voice of Democracy is an annual essay contest for high school students. It invites them to express their views on patriotism and the American way of life. The program encourages young people to reflect on democracy, freedom, and the sacrifices made to protect them. Each year, winners receive scholarships and gain recognition for their exceptional writing and speaking skills.
Patriots Pen
The Patriots Pen contest is designed for middle school students to express their thoughts on the theme of democracy and American values. This program encourages young students to research and write about topics that focus on the importance of civic duty, freedom, and patriotism. The top entries receive scholarships and recognition for their insightful perspectives. At VFW Post 10385, we proudly host this competition to inspire the next generation of leaders.
Get Involved with VFW Programs

Veterans, family members, and community members all have plenty of opportunities to get involved and make a difference.
